Morehouse College - Digital Orientation
Background.
In 2021, Morehouse College, a historically black, private college in Atlanta, GA announced the launch of an online Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree program, the first of its kind for the university.
Objective.
An important step in the process of matriculating to Morehouse College is participating in a very personal, very complex Orientation. The objective of this project was to create an equally engaging, educational, and intimate Digital Orientation Experience exclusively for the online student population.
Ideation.
One of the first decisions I arrived at on this journey was to design a completely new orientation for the online students to call their own. It was important to not simply document the events that take place on campus and deliver a watered down facsimile. Working directly with college leadership, faculty, and alumni, we identified the major elements and principles important to the school and designed an interactive learning experience built around three pillars: Pledge, Brotherhood, and Ideals.
Execution.
Bringing this plan to life meant managing a lot of moving parts. Because it was a brand new program, all of the assets needed to be generated from scratch. Over the course of a week, I captured interviews and scripted monologues with leadership, faculty, alumni, and current students at both iconic sites on-campus, as well as in a green screen studio built on-site. BROLL was captured utilizing a drone, steadicam, golf carts, time lapses and locked off shots.
